Vitamins for Hair Loss
A
diet is considered complete only if it has its daily dosage
of vitamins in it. It is these vitamins that compensate for
any deficiency found in food, and thus helps in preventing
hair loss.
With vitamins in your diet, you get your required amount of
minerals and amino acids that lead to healthy hair and prevention
of hair loss. Today, the stress of office and a tight schedule
has lead to many people suffering from a deficiency of good
and healthy food, and thus vitamins. And this is one of the
main reasons for hair
loss today.
There are many vitamins and minerals you have to take to maintain
healthy hair
growth. The many vitamins for hair loss include vitamin
A, which is an antioxidant that promotes the production of
healthy sebum of the scalp. This vitamin is found in abundance
in milk, eggs, meat, fish liver oil, spinach, cabbage, cheese,
eggs, peaches, carrots and apricots.
Chicken, brewer’s yeast and eggs have most vitamins
for hair loss
Just ensure that you have only 5,000 IU of the vitamin as
consumption of more than 25,000 IU of vitamin A is toxic and
can lead to more hair loss instead of treating the condition.
Other hair growth vitamins include vitamin B3 or niacin, which
helps in promoting circulation in the scalp.
Vitamin B3 is found in fish, turkey, chicken, brewer’s
yeast, wheat germ and meat. Take about 15 mg and not more
than 25 mg per day as it can cause a burning sensation with
blood cell dilation or niacin flush. Vitamin B5 or pantothenic
acid is also one of the hair loss vitamins which helps in
preventing hair loss and graying of hair.
Vitamin B5 is available in whole grain cereals, organ meats,
egg yolks and brewer’s yeast. It recommended dosage
is 4 to 7 mg. Another vitamin for hair loss and improve the
production of melanin, which is responsible for giving color
to hair, is vitamin B6.
Don’t take too much of vitamin E
Vitamin B6 is found in liver, whole grain cereals, brewer’s
yeast, organ meats, vegetables and egg yolks. Don’t
take more than 1.6mf of it as this can lead to numbness in
hands and feet.
2 mg of Vitamin B12 is also helpful in preventing hair loss,
and is found in milk, chicken, fishes and milk. Vitamin C
is an antioxidant that is great for the hair and skin and
is found in citrus fruits, pineapples, tomatoes, kiwis, potatoes,
peppers and dark green vegetables. 60mg is its recommended
dosage.
Vitamin E is found in cold pressed vegetable oils, soybeans,
nuts, dried beans, raw seeds, wheat germ oils and leafy green
vegetables and helps in circulation of the scalp. Don’t
take more than 400 mg as it can increase blood pressure and
lowers blood clotting. So consult your doctor if you suffer
from high blood pressure, before taking vitamin E.
Taking these vitamins for hair growth in the recommended dosages
helps in prevention of hair loss, and in promoting hair
growth.
