Revivogen
Revivogen works to prevent the development of DHT (dihydrotestosterone). DHT blocks hair growth and minimizes the existing hair follicles so they appear finer and thinner, and more of the scalp shows.
The delivery system of the Revivogen product is an important part of the process. There are three products in the Revivogen standard line: Scalp therapy, shampoo and conditioner. The kit comes with an eye dropper and a mist sprayer to facilitate usage. The scalp therapy needs to be used twice a day and can be applied with the eye dropper or the sprayer. The shampoo and conditioner help complete the hair loss defense system. The shampoo is used to create a healthy environment for new hair growth, as it rids the scalp of any DHT build up and the conditioner is used to make the hair appear thicker and more voluminous.
How it Works
Revivogen works to stop the conversion of testosterone to DHT. An enzyme in the system called 5AR (5 alpha-reductase) attaches to the testosterone and creates dihydrotestosterone or DHT. This attaches to the androgen receptors in the scalp, and in turn hair regrowth is blocked. In addition, existing hair is minimized by the presence of DHT.
DHT products are popular for the control of male pattern baldness or Androgen alopecia. Since it works on the production of testosterone, some sexual side effects are common with the use of DHT products, Revivogen claims there are no side effects with the use of their product.
Company Information
Revivogen is a product of Advanced Skin and Hair, Inc.; a California company founded in 1999 by Dr. Alex Khadavi. In addition to the hair loss line, Advanced Skin and Hair, Inc. is the manufacturer of Clearogen, an acne treatment line.
Benefits
As with all DHT products, the most benefit comes to those still in an active hair growth phase, as stopping the hair loss is only one benefit. The regrowth of new hair is as important. Revivogen claims to use all natural products, is tested by a board certified dermatologist and is focused on the latest breakthroughs available in hair loss treatment.
The kit with the application and supporting shampoo and conditioners has a contemporary look and feel. The systems approach to hair loss which includes cleaning the scalp and thickening existing hair is a tried and true approach.
Recommendation
The application process seems to be a bit time consuming, and the science seems to be in line with other product lines. We rank Revivogen as our number 4 product.
