Cause of Female Hair Loss

Besides having a bad figure, suffering from hair loss proves to be something really difficult for a woman to adjust to. This is why a woman suffering from hair loss should find the cause of female hair loss, and work at controlling and stopping it.

It is great to hear that unlike men, only about 27% of women get afflicted with hair loss problems before the age of 50. Whatever the age you may be when suffering from female hair loss, you can find its best treatment only after finding the causes of female hair loss.

Different women have different causes leading to female hair loss. Usually, women think that heredity is the factor that leads to female hair loss. However on the contrary, this is far from the truth. There are various other causes of female hair loss, which on finding out, can be resolved easily without any expensive hair loss treatment.

Avoid stress to avoid hair loss

The leading factor for women hair loss is stress, where hair loss usually starts after three months of a stressful event. It is only after another three months will you find a re-growth of hair. And if there is no family history of baldness, this hair loss will be temporary, and stop.  However if you undergo additional stress, there is a possibility of another bout of hair loss; so the best thing to do to stop this hair loss is to learn to handle stress.

Dieting with prescribed meals, vitamin ingestion and dietary supplements with the help of a dietician is another cause of female hair loss. Though you will be taking vitamins and minerals important for healthy hair, these diets have a deficiency of fat. And a deficiency of fat can increase hair loss by as much as 68%. This means that though you diet; make sure you consume a minimal amount of fat which the body requires.

Don’t be afraid if you lose hair after delivery

Pregnancy is a leading cause of female hair loss as during pregnancy, lots of hair goes into resting phase, as in a normal hair loss cycle. However it is after delivery that you find bald spots and hair loss. These symptoms usually vanish after 3-4 months of the delivery. If you find any hair loss during pregnancy, visit your doctor as it could be due to a deficiency of some vitamin or mineral.

Hair products like sprays, dyes, mouse and leave-in conditioners, when overused, also lead to hair loss. These products can damage hair strands and start hair loss. So if you find hair loss with a certain product, stop using the product immediately and consult a professional hair stylist for some help in hair repair.

Frequent changes in hormonal levels lead to hair loss

The most common cause of female hair loss is hormonal imbalance of hormones like estrogen and androgen. Even Dihydrotestosterone can cause hair loss. This is a male hormone which is also found in women. If a woman has hair follicles supersensitive to DHT, they tend to lose hair like in men.

Aerobics is the best option for lowering the production of DHT. Another option is trying out a legitimate hair loss treatment; however this is an expensive option and practically 90% of these products don’t work at all.
